![]() When plinking I'll shoot my Henry at distances between 10-50 yards with 25yds most common. I am currently using my Henry to shoot chipmunks from 5-10 yds so accuracy is vital. I am looking for opinions (pro and cons) as to which would be a better choice. I have never used a peep sight before so I have no practical experience with any peep sight. I realize the receiver mounted peep will likely require a taller front sight which is why I am leaning toward the barrel mounted unless there is a major benefit to the receiver mounted. I have heard the peep works best when closest to the eye. Will I be giving up much by using the barrel mounted verses the receiver mounted Skinner peep? The actual distance difference is about 6-7 inches. I will be using this set up for a while but I am also considering swapping the rear sight to a Skinner Peep Sight. I think this change alone will help a great deal. I must say the front sight really pops when I look through the stock buckhorn rear sight. It fits H001, H001L and H001Y long rifle models, in. I was having difficulty seeing a good sight picture with the stock front sight so I have changed it to the Henry Hi Viz barrel banded sight. This is a replacement front rifle sight for Henry lever action rifles.
